SanDisk Now Producing 64GB X4 NAND Flash Cards

SanDisk is now producing Flash memory cards with four bits of data in each memory cell — twice as many as in conventional multi-level cell (MLC) NAND (2-bits-per-cell) memory chips. With X4 technology, the 64GB NAND Flash chip is the highest-density single-die memory device on the market. SanDisk is currently producing 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards as well as 8GB and 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo cards using X4 technology.

SanDisk Speeds Up to 30MB/S, Introduces 32GB CF Card

SanDisk has introduced a new line of its SDHC cards, available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. The SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition offers enhanced transfer speeds of up to 30MB per second (when placed in SanDisk’s ImageMate Multi-Card USB 2.0 Reader/Writer) and is optimized for use with the new Nikon D90.

Compatible cameras can record 39 images in continuous shooting mode at 4.5 frames per second with a file size of 6MB JPEG L Fine per image. The cards are capable of functioning in extreme temperatures, from -13° to 185° Fahrenheit.

SanDisk Launches Line of HD Video Memory Cards

SanDisk has debuted a new line of flash memory products for high-definition video capture based on the ExpressCard technology. The Express line is available in 8- and 16-gigabyte capacities with recording times of 35 megabits per second for up to 60 minutes on the 16GB card. The ExpressCard technology is a successor to the PC Card standard and connects directly to a computer’s PCI Express bus.
Sony is the first major video equipment manufacturer to adopt the ExpressCard standard, and with SanDisk developed the SxS specification that certifies support for its line of video products...

SanDisk Speeds Up with Ultra II

SDHC Plus Line SanDisk has introduced the Ultra II SDHC Plus line of high-capacity SD cards in 32-, 16- and 8-gigabyte (GB) capacities. The new SDHC cards are designed for camcorders and point-and-shoot digital cameras and offer read and write speeds of 15MB per second. The 32GB card can store up to 8,000 high-resolution pictures or up to 40 hours of video.
The 32GB and 16GB SDHC cards come with a SanDisk MicroMate USB 2.0 Reader at a suggested retail price of $349 and $179, respectively. The 8GB card is $99.

Nikon Adds two Models to Coolpix Line

Nikon has released two new digital cameras in the Coolpix line, the S700 and the S510. Both digital cameras come equipped with a 3X-zoom Nikkor glass lens and Optical Vibration Reduction image stabilization technology. They also can capture images at a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The S700 captures at 12.1 megapixels and has ISO capabilities up to 3200. Other features include a high-resolution LCD monitor, measuring 2.7 inches; Distortion Control that automatically corrects barrel distortion; and ISO capabilities ranging as high as 2000 for capturing images...
